Homonymous Hemianopia

Homonymous is the term used to describe the situation when the same side of visual space is affected in both eyes eg complete loss of vision to the right of fixation in both eyes ie right temporal and left nasal field, is known as a right homonymous hemianopia. Patients with a homonymous visual disturbance often perceive the deficit as loss of vision in one eye only eg a patient with a left homonymous hemianopia may complain of reduced vision in the left eye.
